Obrigada
As histórias do Portugal Gazette ficam guardadas aqui: https://portugalgazette.wordpress.com/.
Ana
There is something strange about writing a final piece. It feels a little like closing the door of a home I have lived in for a while — slowly, carefully, with one last look back.
I started Portugal Gazette because I wanted to share Portugal as I know and feel it: not only through facts and dates, but through small gestures, family stories, the streets of Lisbon I know by heart, and the language I speak every day — a language that still finds ways to surprise me. I wanted to write for those who love this country and its language, even from far away.
It has been a year of real work. I wrote, researched, learned, revised, and kept trying to make each piece a little better than the last. Along the way, I learned an enormous amount — about Portugal, about the language, and about myself too.
But the time has come to be honest with you: Portugal Gazette did not find the audience it needed in order to continue as an active publication. Not because there was any lack of care, or love for what I created here. It is simply the right time to stop.
So I have decided to bring Portugal Gazette, as a publication, to a close.
I am not writing this with sadness, but with gratitude. To everyone who read, replied to an email, subscribed, or shared an article with a friend: thank you. You gave this project meaning, however brief its life may have been.
The stories of Portugal Gazette will remain here: https://portugalgazette.wordpress.com/. I hope you will visit this new home from time to time — to reread an old article, or simply to feel a little closer to Portugal again.
For now, I will leave you with this: thank you for reading with me. It has been a privilege to write for you.
Best wishes,
Ana
